Pretest:

Discard the first morning urine and start collection with the second void. Collect all urine for the next 24 hours, including the first void the following morning. Avoid foods high in catecholamines (bananas, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, nuts) and certain medications (e.g., acetaminophen, catecholamine drugs) 48 hours prior. Clearly label collection container with patient details and collection times.
