Complete 24-hour urine collection is mandatory Patient must discard the first morning urine and collect all subsequent urine for the next 24 hours including the next day's first morning urine Record total urine volume and submit with sample Avoid contamination with stool or menstrual blood Certain medications may affect results — inform clinician (diuretics, steroids, ACE inhibitors, etc.)
