Pretest:
No fasting or special preparation is required. Inform your doctor/lab if you have had a recent blood transfusion or are on iron or vitamin supplements, as this may influence results. Avoid intense exercise immediately before the test, as it can transiently alter RBC levels. Stay hydrated before sample collection.
