PCT (Plateletcrit) test measures the total platelet mass in the blood and helps assess platelet function and disorders such as thrombocytopenia, bleeding tendency, and bone marrow activity.
Pretest:
Avoid hemolysis and clotting; improper sample may affect platelet indices. Ensure proper mixing of EDTA tube before analysis. Test should ideally be performed within 2–3 hours of sample collection for accurate platelet indices.
