The Creatinine Clearance test evaluates kidney function by measuring the rate at which creatinine is cleared from the blood by the kidneys, helping to estimate glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and detect renal impairment.




Pretest:

Collect all urine over a 24-hour period, starting after discarding the first morning urine and including the next day’s first morning urine. Store the collection container in the refrigerator (2–8°C) during collection. Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive protein intake during the collection period. Provide a blood sample preferably at the end of the 24-hour urine collection. Inform your doctor about medications such as cimetidine, trimethoprim, or diuretics, which may affect results.
