A Complete Hemogram (Complete Blood Count – CBC) is a routinely performed hematology test that evaluates the overall health of blood by measuring red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelet parameters. It helps diagnose anemia, infections, inflammations, blood cancers, and various systemic disorders.
Pretest:
Ensure proper mixing of EDTA tube (8–10 gentle inversions). Avoid hemolysis or clotted samples. Samples older than 24 hours may produce inaccurate results. For abnormal flags, a peripheral blood smear may be recommended.
