The Chlamydia trachomatis IgM Antibody test detects IgM antibodies produced during the early or acute phase of infection with Chlamydia trachomatis. It is used for the diagnosis of recent or current chlamydial infections, especially in cases of urethritis, cervicitis, or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
Pretest:
No fasting required. Recommended for patients with symptoms of genital infection or suspected recent exposure. IgM positivity suggests recent or active infection; may be used alongside IgG or PCR testing for confirmation.
