The Candida Examination test detects Candida species, a type of yeast, in clinical specimens such as blood, urine, sputum, vaginal swab, or other body fluids. It is used to diagnose fungal infections, including candidiasis in mucosal surfaces or systemic infections.
Pretest:
No special preparation unless collecting urine or blood. Avoid topical antifungals or mouthwash before swab collection if possible. Ensure proper labeling and transport of the specimen.
