The Calcium – 24 Hour Urine test measures the amount of calcium excreted in urine over a 24-hour period. It helps in the evaluation of kidney stone disease, bone disorders, parathyroid gland function, and calcium metabolism abnormalities.
Pretest:
Collect all urine for 24 hours, starting after discarding the first morning sample. Store the container in a cool place or refrigerator during the collection period. Avoid calcium supplements, antacids, or vitamin D medications during collection (unless advised). Maintain normal diet and fluid intake unless otherwise instructed. Label container with start and end times of collection.
