The C-ANCA (Cytoplasmic Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibody) / Anti-PR3 test detects autoantibodies against proteinase 3 (PR3) in the blood. It is primarily used to diagnose and monitor granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA, formerly Wegener’s granulomatosis) and other systemic vasculitides.
Pretest:
No fasting required. Inform the clinician about current medications, especially immunosuppressants or corticosteroids. Useful for diagnosis, disease activity monitoring, and treatment response in vasculitis.
