The Bilirubin – Direct test measures the level of conjugated bilirubin in the blood. It helps evaluate liver function, detect bile duct obstruction, and differentiate between hepatic and post-hepatic jaundice. Elevated direct bilirubin levels indicate problems in bile excretion or hepatocellular damage.
