It helps diagnose recent or past streptococcal infections that may lead to complications such as rheumatic fever or glomerulonephritis.

No fasting required. Avoid hemolyzed or lipemic samples. In suspected infections, serial testing (at 2-week intervals) may be recommended to observe rising antibody titers.
