The Anti-Nuclear Antibody (ANA/ANF) – IFA test detects and visualizes autoantibodies directed against nuclear antigens using the Indirect Immunofluorescence Assay (IFA) method. It is a key screening test for autoimmune diseases such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Sjögren’s Syndrome, and Scleroderma.
Pretest:
No fasting or special preparation required. Inform your clinician if you are taking immunosuppressive or steroid medications. Avoid hemolyzed or lipemic samples. Interpretation of IFA results should be done in conjunction with clinical findings.
